Project description
Following a Section 10 Inspection of Eyebrook Reservoir in 2016 Stillwater Associates was commissioned by Tata Steel to carry out a Reservoir Drawdown Study and ALARP assessment of the reservoir. Using the outputs from these studies Stillwater Associates undertook a feasibility study to consider ways of increasing the spillway capacity to ensure the reservoir could safely pass the probable maximum flood (PMF) event with a peak inflow of 282cu. metres per second.
Following the completion of the feasibility study, Stillwater Associates prepared the detailed design for a 50m wide auxiliary spillway located on the left abutment of the dam and provided technical assistance during the construction stage. The construction of the new auxiliary spillway was successfully completed in September 2022.
